Día de la Física/Day of Physics is hosted by the National Society of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP), the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Utah, the American Physical Society’s National Mentoring Community (APS NMC), the American Astronomical Society (AAS), the IEEE Photonics Society (IEEE Photonics Society), and the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in STEM (SACNAS). This event coincides with the 2017 National SACNAS Conference in Salt Lake City, UT.

We at NSHP are invested in creating a space to bring Hispanic and Latinx physicists together to learn about cutting edge physics, create a sense of community, and to provide resources to help students and professionals connect and find mentors. This event is all-inclusive and is open and welcome to undergraduate and graduate students, in particular Hispanic/Latinx students as well as supporting mentors.

An information session will be held for students interested in joining the Department of Physics & Astronomy as a transfer student or as a graduate student.

This event is free for all to attend. Coffee breaks and lunch will be provided.

For participants attending the 2017 SACNAS National Conference, transportation will be provided between the Salt Lake City Convention Center and the University of Utah campus in the morning (8am-8:30am) and afternoon (To be determined).

For APS NMC Participants attending Día de la Física, limited travel funding is available through APS. Please indicate your need on the registration page and you will be notified whether your application was approved.
