Degrees
The Department of Physics offers a variety of graduate degrees in addition to the traditional M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics. These include Master's degrees in Instrumentation and Computational Physics, and Doctoral degrees in Medical Physics and Chemical Physics (adminstered jointly with the Department of Chemistry). Terminal Masters:
- request for supervisory committee
- application for admission to candidacy
- comprehensive exam (equivalent to common exam) report
- report of final examination for project report/thesis
"Milestone" Masters (for Ph.D. candidates):
- form supervisory committee
- application for admission to candidacy
- report of comprehensive exam (equivalent to common exam)
- report of final examination (equivalent to Ph.D. qualifier)
Ph.D.:
- form supervisory committee
- application for admission to candidacy
- program of study
- report of qualifying examination
- report of final oral examination (thesis defense)
- thesis + final reading of dissertation
