Thomas J. Parmley Scholarship: $2500

The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications from declared majors in Physics and Astronomy for the Parmley Scholarship, to be awarded for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Named in honor of former faculty member and master teacher Thomas J. Parmley and endowed through the Parmley Scholarship Fund, the Scholarship provides a $2,500 stipend for the academic year.

Application materials consist of the Departmental Scholarship Application Form, a single page (single-spaced) personal statement from the applicant describing his/her accomplishments, need for the scholarship, and future goals. The applicant should also provide current transcripts and arrange for two letters of support from a faculty instructor or research adviser. Both need and academic merit will be considered in determining the recipient of this award.

Please submit all application materials to Jackie Hadley, JFB 201-D, by March 1.

Deadline for all Departmental Scholarships is March 1. Also note that, while seniors are eligible, it may not possible to award the tuition portion of the award to seniors graduating the same semester awards are given. For further information, contact Jackie Hadley at 801-581-6901
