We are experimental condensed matter group and interested in learning about physics of matter at extreme conditions of pressure and temperature. In our group we use diamond anvil cell (DAC) to generate high pressures and tune the density of materials. In a DAC pressure and temperature can be varied independently in a wide range and variety of techniques of spectroscopy, electrical and magnetic measurements can be applied. High pressure experiments help us test theories of condensed matter and understand the origin of various macroscopic properties of materials as well as search for new states and forms of matter that do not exist under ambient conditions.
