Python 2 and Python 3

We will be using Python 3 in this course - specifically Python version 3.5. The previous version of Python, namely Python 2 uses a slightly different syntax, so Python 2 code is not likely to run under Python 3. Version 2 has an end-of-life date of 2020, meaning that the Python 2 interpreter might not be supported after that. Many current texts use Python 2, so please beware of the possibility that there are slight differences between what you see here and what you find in texts. On our system, typing python gives you a Python 2 interpreter. So you won't mix them up, Python always gives you its version number when you type the python command.
