Getting started.
For information on how to get started accessing Department of Physics
computers, have a look at the Computer
Lab Manual. It gives general information about:
-
how to get an account,
-
how to log on,
-
working in the X-windows environment,
-
SunRay and Java Desktop applications, including how to edit Windows documents, and
-
the basics of Unix, emacs, and compiling C and Fortran.
-
much more
Some potentially useful links.
The following set of links will evolve as the class proceeds; it is
based on the lists of web sites compiled and documents prepared by
Benjamin Bromley, Richard Price, Craig McNeile, and Carleton DeTar for
past courses (P373, P573-4, P6720).
