COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a course which is rarely given. It is intended to provide a discussion forum for topics of current social interest. For example, it might include a discussion of the appropriateness of the budget devoted to a particular field of research (AIDS, cancer, military, etc). It might include discussion of the ethcial and scientific issues surrounding cloning, or attempts to find differences in physical, emotional, or intellectual characteristics between races. In short it is meant to discuss controversial topics related to science.
