Dr. Gail Zasowski, assistant professor of the Department of Physics & Astronomy, has been named a 2021 Cottrell Scholar. The Cottrell Scholar program, run by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement, honors early-career faculty members for the quality and innovation of not only their research programs but also their educational activities and their academic leadership.
Recently, the U's chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) won an Outstanding Chapter Award from the SPS national office. This is the third year in a row the chapter has been recognized for its excellence as a top-tier student-led physical sciences organization, a designation given to fewer than 10% of all SPS chapters at colleges and universities in the United States and internationally.
Physics graduate student, Henna Popli, was born in the vibrant city of New Delhi, India. She had an inquisitive mind from an early age and her family always supported her curiosity. This led to her fascination with science and technology. At the U, Popli studies how electron spins move around in condensed matter materials.
